Email PhilipMy first memories of the Lake: When I was in first grade, I attended my first event at Lake Sallateeska. I came with my Dad to a Lad & Dad Weekend. It was such a wonderful experience to spend time at the Lake with my Dad. Fishing, hiking, singing camp worship songs are all part of my early childhood memories of the Lake. I was very happy to return to Lake Sallateeska every time RA camp rolled around each year. It was during a RA week camp when I was called to serve as a missionary. Both (my wife), Stephanie and I have gotten to work in several diferent countries. Our mission work was part of God's preparation for us before bringing us back to service at Lake Sallateeska.
I too like fire: Moses in Exodus chapter 3 was a man attracted to a flame that did not go out. (just imagine 5 gal of gas on a dry christmas tree) God used this pyrotecnic display to change the direction of Moses' life and inturn the direction of the entire nation of Israel. Lake Sallateeska was the location of my life changing call. Through my service around the world in missions, God has opened my eyes to an over ripe harvest field. The harvest is short on workers!!! God has sent Stephanie, Jackson, and I back to work in Illinois to spread the Good News. God wants to use our family and Lake Sallateeska to bring others to faith in Jesus Christ, and to work in the harvest fields. First changing the hearts of individuals, second changing the direction of our state, and third impacting every inch of our planet with the good news of Jesus Christ. It is my prayer that Lake Sallateeska can be the Holy Ground that God uses to reach into the lives of all who enter its gates.
The end of the Story:
After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitued which no one could number of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!" Revelation 7:9-10
Stephanie's oversees the Mini-manager as he goes about his daily tasks. She also makes sure things are taken care of in the Camp office.
Email KathyIf you are to ask me what my favorite place in the world is, without hesitation I will answer, "Lake Sallateeska Baptist Camp!"
You see I've have grown up coming to this camp every summer since I was in 7th grade with Greater Wabash Baptist Association. Over the years it was no secret that I looked forward to the 5 days in July when my feet could once again meet this awesome campus. Sallateeska has always been a place where I could clearly hear God and try to decypher His plan for my life.
I was given a passion for missions here at the camp. It begun with a love to see people in the states reached. then, God opened doors for me to come serve at the camp during the Summer of 2010, and again in the Fall of 2010 as a summer and semester missionary. I continued to seek God during those months and it was there I was burdened with a passion for foreign missions.
In 2011 through many open and closed doors God made clear my path to serve for 5 months in South Asia. Utilizing my Graphic Design Degree working on a media team God brought my passion for missions and design together. I am so thankful for the things God has let me see and thrilled that my mission field is once again serving with the amazing people here at Lake Sallateeska!
Never doubt His plan for your life. Perhaps it won't be what you think it will look like--take it from me...He may just take you halfway around the world to share his name & let you ride on an elephant in the process!
Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the LORD & He will grant you the desires of your heart!"
Email JacksonHi, I am Jackson and I run this place. You may think I am just a small fry but I can run circles around most people twice my size. As you can see I am constantly busy keeping things in line at the camp. I was caught in this photo with a paint roller in hand about to tackle yet another important job. I specilize in litter pick up, food taste-testing, squeezing into places that dad can't fit, and chairman of the camp welcoming committe.
Sachmo is the best camp dog ever. He has lived at the camp longer than any other staff member. He can spot a church van full of campers a half mile away. He will most likely be the first one to greet you as you arrive. He likes to take care of your left overs and loves to hang out with campers.
